About Author

S.S. Bhavikatti studied at BVB College of Engineering and Technology for his BE (Civil) degree and obtained the degree from Karnatak University in 1963 securing 1st rank. He obtained ME(Stuct) degree from University of Roorkee ( presently IIT Roorkee) in 1967 and PhD from IIT Delhi in 1977. He served NITK Surathkal in different positions like Head of Civil Engg. Dept.; Chairman, Centre for Continuing Education; Chairman, Central Computer Centre and Dean. He has also served SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad; Rao bahadur Y. Mahabaleswarappa Engineering College, Bellary (formerly Vijyanagar Engg. College) and B.V.B. College of Engg. & Technology, Hubli. He has published 64 technical papers in national and international journals and seminars and 53 books in civil engineering. He guided 72 candidates for M Tech thesis and 6 for PhD. He was a member of organizing/scientific communities of international seminars organized by I.A.S.S. held at Taegue (South Korea) in 1990, Tokyo (Japan) in 1993 and Taipei (Taiwan) in 1997. He is a member of several Indian and international professional bodies
